About me
English grows best when students use it to communicate, not just memorize rules. My lessons help children and teenagers improve speaking, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading, and writing through personalized, communicative practice.
I studied Anthropology and Iberian Languages and Literatures at the University of California, Berkeley, with a focus on language, culture, Spanish, Portuguese, and communication. My teaching experience includes private tutoring, conversation teaching, after-school bilingual programming, English teacher training with the Peace Corps in Nicaragua, and online English teaching for children in China. I have also completed TEFL training focused on communicative English methodology and young learners.
In class, I support American English, accent reduction, grammar development, listening comprehension, phonetics, reading comprehension, speaking practice, vocabulary development, and writing correction. My lessons are suitable for beginner, upper beginner, intermediate, upper intermediate, advanced, and upper advanced learners.
For older students, I can also help with academic English, business English, colloquial English, interview preparation, legal English, and medical English. My goal is to understand each student’s level, create lessons around their needs, and help them speak with more confidence, accuracy, and independence.
